Management of Urine specimens in the practice from September 2021

From September 2021 we are changing the way we manage urine samples in the Practice and will no longer accept urine samples that have not been requested by a clinician and are not accompanied by one of our request forms.

If you think you have a urine infection please complete a Patch on the Practice website. If a sample is required you will be advised to bring one in to the practice and will be asked to complete a form as you hand the specimen in. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ONLY ACCEPT URINE SPECIMENS UP TO 1PM EACH DAY AS THE PATHOLOGY LAB SAMPLES ARE COLLECTED AFTER THAT TIME.

Female patients aged 18 to 65 years who think they have a urine infection can speak to their local pharmacist in the first instance as they may be able to issue antibiotics. Contact your local Pharmacy.
